Tonight, we look forward to the Year 6 Graduation at Garanvale Italian Restaurant. Many hours of organisation have gone into making this a very special night for our Year 6 students and we thank our Year 6 parents and Ms Kaptein. They have been excellent leaders and role models to all our students and we congratulate them on completing the primary years of their schooling as they head off to High School next year.
This week we received the exciting news that St Bede’s has received a BGA Grant for $769,721, this application was started in 2020 by MrLaffan and MrsFerlitsch. The Grant will provide three new classrooms, a new front office area and refurbish the Year 5 and 6 classrooms. These works won’t be commencing until later in the 2022 school year and more information will be provided then.
This is our final newsletter for 2021. We would like to say farewell and thank you to Mrs Victoria McGrath and Mrs Ann Monkhouse who are retiring after working for many years at St Bede’s. Mrs Kerry Boyenga has resigned from teaching Dhurga language, Mr Ged Galvin who is going to Marist in Canberra and Ms Lisa Kaptein who is going to a private school in Canberra in a leadership role. We thank all our staff who are leaving for their commitment and dedication to St Bede’s and we wish them all the very best for the future. To our families who are leaving St Bede’s this year, we say farewell and thank you for being a part of our school community.
To conclude the year, we have some significant people to thank in our school community: Father Mick and Brother Brian who celebrate masses, assemblies and are very much a part of our school community. The Community Council for their assistance, commitment and support and Mrs Samantha Moore for organising Book Club. Our wonderful staff who have worked tirelessly in what has been quite a challenging year with the lockdown and demands that this put on them and our amazing parents who are always encouraging and helping the children. Finally, a very special thank you to our beautiful students who are a credit to their families and a pleasure to teach. School reports will be published to all families tomorrow after 3pm electronically on Compass. Hard copies are no longer being sent home.
We wish you all a happy and holy Christmas and look forward to seeing you all back at St Bede’s in 2022.
God Bless
Principal

Prayer
We patiently and joyfully wait for the birth of Jesus, for the start of something wonderful!
May we share joy with our friends and global family.
We pray for all those around the world who struggle to have enough to eat and we ask for the strength to continue supporting them and working for a fairer world.
May we celebrate with joy as we approach Christmas,
In your name we pray,
Third Sunday of Advent - Joy
This weekend is the third Sunday of Advent. We light the third candle on the Advent Wreath which represents joy.
Joyful God,
We patiently and joyfully wait for the birth of Jesus, for the start of something wonderful!
Amen
The online Advent Calendar compiled by Garratt Publishing has been updated until the 19th of December. This year the calendar focuses on the origins of Christmas Carols and provides a reflection for each day. The Carol that I would like to highlight is the Little Drummer Boy.
Swimming Levies
For those families who won't be at St Bede's next year we have refunded the swimming levies back into your school fees account; if this has placed your family in credit a letter has been sent home from the office, please return this completed letter as soon as possible to allow time for the refund.
For all other families, we are hopeful that the 2021 swimming lessons will take place in Term 1 next year and the money that you have paid this year towards swimming will cover these costs.
