Principals Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Friday, Mrs Bridget Bradley and I attended the Clergy, Principal and Religious Education Coordinator Day in Canberra, which brought together leaders from the 56 schools across our Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with clergy and school leaders, share in prayer, and reflect on our shared mission in Catholic education and our key role of evangelisation.
Message of Peace
Our week began with a special visit from the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run team before they continued their journey to Queanbeyan. The team began their run in Canberra on April 24 and has circumnavigated the whole of Australia, returning to Canberra to complete the journey.
The Peace Run is a worldwide relay where runners carry a Peace Torch, passing it from hand to hand, person to person, across nations. It is a symbolic way to share a universal longing for peace. What an honour for St Bede’s to be part of this global movement!
We combined the visit with our Cultural Day, celebrating the wonderful diversity within our school community. Students enjoyed sharing their cultural heritage and rotating through a variety of activities which included sampling delicious treats provided by families.
A huge thank you to Miss Hayley Millsom for organising and coordinating such a special day, the teachers for running activities and to all families who contributed food. The message of peace was certainly reflected in the way students shared, connected, and enjoyed the day together.

Feast of the Assumption
I invite all members of our school community to join us for Parish Mass this Friday to celebrate the Holy Day of Obligation for the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Feast of the Assumption honours Mary’s special place in God’s plan and her being taken into Heaven, body and soul. The feast reminds us of Mary’s faith, love, and devotion, and inspires us to follow her example in our own lives. Mass will begin at 10:15am at the St Bede’s Church.
Robogals Incursion
On Friday, our Year 3 and 4 students will take part in an incursion run by Robogals Canberra, a non-profit volunteer organisation dedicated to encouraging children to see the fun in STEM. Year 3 students will rotate through stations to learn about chromatography (chemistry), projectile motion (physics), and strawberry DNA (biology). Year 4 will be using Makey Makey kits to create their own circuits, combining crafts and electricity to learn about conductors and insulators.
We thank the volunteers from Robogals for providing this exciting and engaging learning opportunity for our students.
Here’s to another week of living, loving, and learning!
